Ethics Committee for Research Activities

The ethics committee of FH Campus Wien is responsible for an ethical discourse on ensuring good scientific practice and advises on research ethics issues as well as on specific legal and data protection principles.

The committee covers the full range of disciplines within the University of Applied Sciences and ensures the ethical integrity of research projects across all disciplines.


Our main fields of activity

  • Review and approval of research projects based on ethical criteria

  • Identification of potentially ethically relevant issues in research

  • Integration of research ethics into the research design

  • Advice on research ethics issues and specific legal and data protection principles

  • Support for compliance with research ethics guidelines in research projects

    The rules of good scientific practice ensure responsible, honest, transparent and fair behavior by researchers and teachers within the scientific community. FH Campus Wien takes scientific integrity – i.e. the quality and trustworthiness of science and its results – very seriously.

    Submission platform

    On our platform, you can find detailed information about the cases in which an application is required, what to look out for when submitting an application and how the application and assessment process works. You will also find all relevant documents there. In order to submit a project, it is necessary to create a free user account.

    An assessment can only take place after an ethics application has been submitted. Once the review has been completed, the Ethics Committee decides whether to issue a vote (see Section 4 of the internal regulations).

    Please note the respective submission deadlines for the individual review meetings.


     The following applications CANNOT be processed by the Ethics Committee of FH Campus Wien:

    • Studies that fall under the Medical Devices Act (MPG) and the Medicinal Products Act (AMG).
      If you are pursuing a research project in this area, please get in touch with the contact person in the relevant department (members).
    • Applications for research projects that deal with the manipulation of animals or the killing of animals for the purpose of organ and tissue removal as well as the creation and use of transgenic animals.

    Please note:

    • The Ethics Committee of FH Campus Wien is open for external applications (as of Feb 2024).
    • from 2025 on, external applications will be subject to a fee

        Applications can also be submitted during the period without meetings (June to August).
        Please note, however, that it may take longer to process applications during this period.


      Ethics consultation

      The ethics committee offers an online consultation hour every 1st Tuesday of the month from 9.00 - 10.00 a.m. (except during non-teaching periods). Should you have any queries, you can simply join the zoom meeting on one of the dates listed below. Registration is not required.
