Use one of the following options to fulfill the relevant admission requirement:
Obtaining a secondary school leaving certificate (Matura) by taking the vocational higher education entrance qualification (Berufsreifeprüfung)
The vocational higher education entrance qualification is equivalent to a full secondary school leaving certificate and gives you access to all fields of study at universities, universities of applied sciences, academies and colleges. Details on the vocational higher education entrance qualification (content only in German)
Limited higher education entrance qualification (Studienberechtigungsprüfung)
The limited higher education entrance qualification gives you limited admission to a specific group of study programs. You should therefore already know exactly which study program you would like to apply for. The limited higher education entrance qualification consists of several individual examinations. Professional qualification with additional examinations
If you have a relevant apprenticeship qualification or a qualification from a school for intermediate vocational education (Berufsbildende Mittlere Schule), you can obtain the relevant admission requirement after passing certain mandatory additional examinations. You can find information on relevant qualifications and additional examinations on the respective page of the study program in the section "Before the studies" under "Admission requirements".
If you have obtained your general university entrance qualification abroad or have an international university degree, please find out about the necessary formalities in good time before applying. Upload scans of the original documents including all required legalizations in your online application. For documents not issued in German or English, scans of the corresponding translations must also be uploaded. The equivalence of international (higher) education qualifications is decided on a case-by-case basis by the head of the degree or study program. Documents can therefore only be checked as part of the ongoing application process.
For documents that are not issued in German or English, a translation by a certified legal interpreter is required. Your original documents should have all the necessary legalization stamps before translation so that the stamps can also be translated.
Depending on the country, applicants whose documents required for the application do not originate from Austria may require legalization so that they have the evidential value of domestic public documents. Information on the required legalizations can be found here in PDF format.
The German "Fachhochschulreife" (German advanced technical college entrance qualification) is not formally equivalent to the Austrian general university entrance qualification. Whether access to the Bachelor's degree program is possible via a relevant professional qualification and which additional examinations must be taken for this is decided by the head of the degree program or study program after reviewing the application documents in the course of the admission procedure. In your online application in the selection field "Relevant admission requirement", please select the item "Foreign limited higher education entrance qualification".
