Open Courses

Would you like to get to know contents of other disciplines during your studies? Do you want to exchange ideas with students from other fields of study?

FH Campus Wien trains students for many different professional fields in its seven departments. Open courses give you the opportunity to "look beyond the horizon" of your own degree program. In multi-professional groups, you will expand your knowledge about current issues in the health and social sectors as well as in the fields of applied life sciences, engineering, public management and construction. What is more, you will receive important ideas for your own field of study in interdisciplinary exchange with students from other degree programs.

2. Curricular open courses

Different degree programs of the seven departments of FH Campus Wien open their courses for students of other fields of study. These courses do not require special prior knowledge from the regular study program (e.g. introductory courses, electives, interdisciplinary lecture series...).

You can find the currently available courses on the FH Portal for Students or at www.fh-campuswien.ac.at/offene-lvs.

You can register online on the FH Portal for Students or at www.fh-campuswien.ac.at/offene-lvs

For organizational reasons, registration is limited to a maximum of three courses per person and semester.

The open courses are free of charge for students at FH Campus Wien.

There are two ways to successfully complete an open course:

1. Meeting the performance requirements with the option of credit towardsyour studies

If the performance requirements specified in the respective course are met and the required minimum attendance is achieved, a certificate will be issued. In this case, you may also apply for the successfully completed course to be credited to your regular degree program. The crediting of the ECTS earned for your degree program must be clarified with the respective degree program head in each individual case.
Courses that are not credited to your own degree program are listed as additional credits in the Diploma Supplement.

2. Regular attendance

If you do not meet the performance requirements for an open course, but have attended classes regularly, you can receive a certificate of attendance. In this case you must have attended at least 60% of the classes. To obtain a confirmation of attendance, please contact the degree program that offers the course. You can find the relevant information and contact details on the FH Portal for Students under the respective course.

Participation in open courses is also possible for FH Campus Wien employees and graduates (up to one semester after graduation). When attending open courses, the ÖH fee has to be paid (according to the FH Studies Act) – in addition to the deposit for extracurricular open courses.
