The admission procedure includes a written test and an interview with the admission committee and takes place at the FH Campus Wien.

    • Goal
The aim of the admission procedure is to offer a study place to those persons who complete the multi-stage admission procedure with the best results. The test procedures are based on the skills required for the intended profession.
    • Procedure
The written admission test includes tasks from the following areas:
      • logical reasoning
      • general knowledge
      • mathematics
      • German and
      • English.

Applicants are then interviewed for admission, which gives a first impression of their personal suitability. The questions asked include professional motivation, professional understanding, performance behavior, problem solving and reflective ability. Each part of the test is evaluated with points.

    • Criteria
The criteria leading to admission are exclusively performance-related. The geographic assignment of applicants* has no influence on admission. The admission requirements must be met. The final ranking of the applicants results from the completion of the above mentioned admission tests and the admission interview.

The admissions committee (heads of depgree programs and department representatives) allocates the study places on the basis of the ranking. The entire process, as well as all test results and evaluations of the admission procedure, are documented in a transparent and comprehensible manner. You will probably receive information in mid July 2024 as to whether we can offer you a study place, whether you are placed on the waiting list, or whether you did not pass the admission procedure.

You will receive the invitation to the admission procedure (incl. your assigned interview appointment) after a positive review of all relevant documents. Approximately 2-3 working days before your appointment, you will receive the exact schedule for the admission interviews.Due to the increased time required for the admission interviews, additional admission dates may be scheduled - this depends on the number of applicants.

The dates are assigned and cannot be freely chosen.

Online infosessions on all study programs of the Department Building and Design

In our online info sessions, we will introduce you to the key areas of the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs offered by the Department of Building and Design. We will inform you about the content of the courses and give you an outlook on possible career opportunities. Afterwards, there will also be time for questions and discussions.

    During the studies

In the 20 years and more that FH Campus Wien has been running civil engineering programs, the university of applied sciences has built up a wealth of expertise and a broad network that offers you numerous possibilities during your program, when seeking an internship and when embarking on a career. This network includes construction firms such as STRABAG SE, which also cooperates with FH Campus Wien in the further education of its staff. You may, furthermore, participate in R&D projects and in developing the dialog between practice practical application at the university while making contacts for your future professional life. To give one example, the faculty, in partnership with Vienna University of Technology and Graz University of Technology, is developing a practical engineering model to determine actual shear resistance in existing reinforced concrete bridges where this appears to be too low for continued use according to current calculation models. Elsewhere we offer regular training through our series of seminars dealing with selected topics from the construction business. Practical relevance is also guaranteed at our Campus Lecture evenings, which are open to all and feature contributions from prominent experts.

The combination of structural engineering, economics and soft skills makes this generalist degree program a practical education for all-round civil engineers. As a graduate, you are up to the demanding tasks of construction site project management and can immediately take on a role in any construction company. In addition to the content and excellent career prospects, the FH Campus Wien degree program provides numerous other advantages: You will learn in small groups and benefit from the excellent FH Campus Wien network with top companies such as STRABAG SE, ÖBB and many more. Alone the excellent reputation the degree program enjoys in the construction industry is a useful building block for your career.

Your educational background has given you a solid foundation in technology, business and personal development; you have also covered the core subjects of construction management, the construction industry, fundamentals of design, civil engineering and theory and structural engineering.

    • You will explore the general and technical fundamentals of civil engineering while acquiring the business-related and legal knowledge required by construction management and the construction industry.
    • You will thereby develop a profound knowledge of planning and construction, covering the fundamentals of design, civil engineering theory, structural engineering theory and construction methods.
    • You will also become familiar with the theoretical foundations of contract management, claim management, cost planning, scheduling and the practical application thereof; your expanded portfolio of basic tools will include business English and soft skills.
    • You will complete an eight-week internship in which you will apply the specific theoretical knowledge you have gained.
