ASF - Co-Production of oncology rehabilitation and physiotherapy – FWF Connecting Minds Workshop

Project duration: July 1st, 2024 - November 11th, 2024

Despite major advances in cancer treatment, many patients are confronted with physical, cognitive and psychosocial limitations that restrict their quality of life. Studies show that rehabilitation and physiotherapy can alleviate symptoms and improve people's functionality and participation. However, cancer patients still face obstacles when it comes to rehabilitative offers. This is precisely where the project "Co-production of oncology rehabilitation and physiotherapy" comes in, with the aim of integrating rehabilitation and physiotherapy into all phases of curative and palliative oncological care and adapting them to the needs of patients.

Participatory approach of the project

The project follows an innovative approach where patients and professionals are actively involved in the research process. Various participatory research methods are combined in a process of co-production in order to understand the needs and expectations of those affected and to research appropriate measures.
The project is based on the EU mission "Cancer: Conquering Cancer - Mission Possible". The Austrian Science Fund FWF is funding a Connecting Minds Workshop
