Impact Urban Renewal Area Management Unit on behalf of the Technical Urban Renewal Department (MA25)

Project duration: January 1st, 2024 - January 2025

The Technical Urban Renewal Department (MA25), as the contracting authority for the Urban Renewal Area Management Unit, defined impact objectives for the first time as part of the contractual procedure for the intellectual services of the Urban Renewal Area Management Unit for the period from January 2024 to December 2026, which must be referred to in the work of the Urban Renewal Area Management Unit. The impacts were named on three levels (individual, group, district) and assigned to the five fields of action for the services of the Urban Renewal Area Management Unit (Climate-Fit District, Resilient District, Participatory District, Growing District and Changeable District).

The Technical Urban Renewal Department (MA25) has approached the Research Center Social Work to develop an impact model for the Urban Renewal Area Management Unit. The aim is to link the services with the impact targets and to provide the basis for impact-oriented management of the various projects and ongoing activities. The project will be implemented through five work packages. First, there will be an initial exchange on the status quo with the project group consisting of employees of FH Campus Wien and the Technical Urban Renewal Department (MA25), followed by an analysis of the documentation, reports, statistics and subsequent workshops in which the existing impact objectives will be reviewed and impact chains developed together with contractors from the six Urban Renewal Area Management Units. This results in a comprehensive impact model and proposals for measurement options.

Research goals

  • Further development of the impact logic on the three levels of individual, group and district into an impact model for the Urban Renewal Area Management Unit.
  • Development of exemplary impact chains for various prototypical formats for the Urban Renewal Area Management Unit.
  • Development of proposals for measuring instruments in order to be able in future to measure the impacts at the program level or at the level of the residents involved.
