The SE "Leadership and intercultural management" serves as a propaedeutic course at the beginning of your TM studies. It will be conducted in two separate groups by two lectors featuring a diverse professional background focussing on different content issues. Groups will be exchanged in mid-semester.
We will cover basics of intercultural management which will increasingly determinate your working environment as well as various aspects of leading others which will be a crucial requirement for your future carreer but also facilitating your progress and success as a student:
• Cultural issues will be covered by Mag'a Petra Schmidinger from am individual perspective, and by Dr. Paul Martin Frentz from a business perspective.
• Leadership issues will be addressed by Mag'a Petra Schmidinger with respect to dealing with co-workers as well as social and communicative competence, and by Dr. Paul Martin Frentz with respect to conceptual guiding and steering co-workers in daily business situations.
Details of Mag'a Petra Schmidinger's part:
Leadership as a carreer goal, requirements and expectations of leaders in business, developing a clear role and self-understanding, leadership styles and effects on co-workers, basics of communication psychology for leaders, problems of authority and guidance, areas of conflict and conflict resolution models, intercultural competence, thinking about own patterns and images with respect to other cultures.
Details of Dr. Paul Martin Frentz's part:
Communication in operations leadership, presentation, negotiation, and multinational working situations, non-verbal communicating with brands as part of international marketing, understanding processes and instruments, applying individually in the students daily business.
