Project Duration: 1st July 2020 until 30th September 2023
Additional measures are necessary in order to achieve the 50 % recycling target until 2025 determined by the European Circular Economy Package. The scope of this project is to establish a closed-loop-system for PET rigid packaging along the entire value chain in Austria deriving from the food as well as non-food sector. The project aims to investigate towards safety-related fundamentals of these materials, detailed analysis regarding available sorting techniques as well as research towards suitable recycling possibilities. In this way, the requirements should be created in order to strive for an approval for food-contact material of the developed PET rigid recyclate and thus to contribute significantly to resource efficiency and the circular economy.
